An experienced writer and publisher, Jorge I. Dominguez is a retired Harvard University professor who specializes in the study of Latin American politics and international affairs. Jorge Dominguez has also researched extensively and authored several books on the relationship between the United States and Cuba.

Published in November 1978, Cuba: Order and Revolution is the first book to document and analyze the major political revolutions in Cuba throughout the 20th Century. The book introduces readers to the major political roles played by mass organizations, interest groups, and the military in the three major political eras of Cuba — starting from the year Cuba gained formal independence (1902). Sections of the book also analyze the impact of international affairs on the country.

Cuba’s role in international affairs is incongruous in relation to its size. It’s remarkable that a country encompassing roughly 42,800 square miles could have an indelible impact on worldwide political affairs. Cuba: Order and Revolution features analysis of monumental events — including the missile crisis in 1962 and the Bay of Pigs invasion — that have historically propelled Cuba to the forefront of international affairs. The author(s) recommend the book for anyone who is looking to learn about Cuba and its people.
